mission

By providing tailor-made music lessons, you motivate and inspire the student, resulting in the best possible learning curve in an enthusiastic and relaxed atmosphere.

vision

After teaching at various music schools for a number of years, I became increasingly convinced that music education should be different and more contemporary. In modern music education, it should not be the teacher but the student who should initially indicate the musical direction. The student should be able to learn the music and techniques that his/her musical preference actually goes to. Because every student is unique and has a different focus, learning capacity and pace, and there may be other aspects that need to be taken into account, a personal approach and method is essential. This means that music lessons should be tailor-made, whereby the lessons are fully tailored to the individual student in order to further broaden the musical horizon. In this way, Tune Up Muziekpunt wants to motivate and inspire students as much as possible for their musical development.

team of teachers

Such modern music education also requires a modern and flexible team of teachers. The teachers at Tune Up Muziekpunt have a conservatory (master) education in 'Light Music' (jazz, pop, rock, soul, folk, funk, blues, ...) and are all experienced, enthusiastic and inspiring teachers who master almost all styles within the 'light genre'. They are active as performers and thus have the necessary stage and studio experience. Having these stage and studio qualities is, in addition to the pedagogical/didactic aspect, of great importance in order to be able to convey the "ins & outs" and the "tricks of the trade" well.

1994-2025: history in a nutshell

In 1994, Tune Up Muziekpunt opened its doors for the first time on the top floor of the corner building at Nieuwe Gracht 42 in the centre of Haarlem. After the building was sold 2 years later and a law firm was established there, Tune Up Muziekpunt moved to a former school building on Diepenbrockstraat in Haarlem-Oost. This location was also temporary due to a municipal housing project. There was no alternative and an intensive search for a suitable location followed; a period of many viewings and negotiations. During this search, the music lessons were given in a number of locations in Haarlem, Heemstede and Santpoort.

The new location was eventually found and after the financing was also in place, construction of 6 new isolated lesson, rehearsal and recording studios was started in 1998 in the building of the former Vomar in Teslastraat 72, Haarlem-Zuid.

After 10 years in Teslastraat, the 6 studios were no longer logistically sufficient: Tune Up Muziekpunt had outgrown its jacket and it was time for a new home with more possibilities. A suitable building was found less than 100 meters from the old one. The new home offered possibilities for the construction of 9 studios. A bridging period of several months followed in the outbuildings of the Kennemer Gasthuis. While the music lessons could continue in the provisionally adapted rooms of the KG, the old studios in the Teslastraat were dismantled and preparations were made for the new studios.

In March 2009 the time had come: Tune Up Muziekpunt in the Stephensonstraat 43 was finally ready; the instruments could be transferred and the lessons could continue in brand new well-insulated studios, all with ventilation, air conditioning, central heating and daylight.
